A nice canoe. I’m guessing they didn’t make aluminum canoes in 1957, but they definitely made cedar/wood ones.

I wouldn't want a larger boat as larger boats come with larger costs. And the kind of boating I like can be done with a canoe.

Yeah, especially one like these. You can get a nice cheaper wooden boat, but they are usually painted because it is a lot less up keep.

Oh yeah. As someone who has done wood work on boats, I can tell you you either dedicate your time to them, or pay someone else a lot to dedicate theirs.
